Donetsk, Dec 27 – DAN. DPR authorities on Tuesday morning handed over two women to head of Ukraine’s “Officer Corps” Prisoner Release Centre Vladimir Ruban, as a goodwill gesture.
DPR State Security Ministry officers handed over Anzhelika Presnyakova and Olga Svorak to Ruban at a location between Donetsk and Makeyevka.
“Today’s prisoner handover will facilitate prisoner exchange in Donbass, “ Ruban said in a brief comment for journalists.
Earlier, DPR Head Aleksandr Zakharchenko and LPR leader Igor Plotnitskiy said the Republics were ready to hand over Presnyakova and Svorak to Ukrainian people representative (Verkhovnaya Rada deputy) Nadezhda Savchenko, without any conditions.”
The Republics’ leaders said there were making the move in the hope to facilitate the release of DPR and LPR citizens held captive in Ukraine.
Zakharchenko and Plotnitskiy also noted that Kiev was helpless and incapable of meeting its prisoner exchange commitments under the Minsk-2 agreements and that DPR and LPR were stepping up interaction with representatives of “the sound part of the Ukrainian people.”
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that Ruban had attended Zakharchenko and Plotnitskiy’s meeting with Savchenko in Minsk over ways to revitalize Donbass prisoner exchange process. *jk
