Donetsk, Jul 29 - DAN. Tensions have mounted on the contact line between Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination reported on Thursday.
“As of today, the situation on the contact line continues to worsen; Kiev has increased strikes at the Republic by several times with weapons banned by the Minsk Agreements,” the report said. “Mounting tensions on the southern border of the Republic in recent time are of particular concern.”
In the period from July 26 to July 29, Ukrainian forces opened fire with 122mm artillery eight times (which is more than during the previous three weeks,) and also used 120mm mortars (with higher intensity compared with the previous two weeks) and grenade launchers to shell settlements on the Mariupol axis, expending 87 rounds of ammunition, the DPR Office said.
As a result, three DPR militiamen aged 40, 49 and 42 were killed, and a 28-year-old militiaman suffered serious shrapnel wounds, it said.*jk
