Donetsk, Jul 3 – DAN. Donbass graduates travelling to Ukraine in hope to enroll in its universities for free may end up in prison instead, said DPR People's Militia deputy chief-of-staff Eduard Basurin.
"Ukrainian free higher education program for Donbass residents is run by the Security Service (SBU) members who also curate Waiting for You at Home program," he said.
The latter is aimed at tricking Donbass residents into travelling to Ukraine only to be captured and charged with separatism and crimes against Ukraine.
"We understand that young people are attracted by the promise and will be used by the SBU for blackmailing relatives of these graduates and for denigration of the DPR."
Earlier Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky initiated amendments to the law on higher education to accept DPR, LPR and Crimean without fees and without passing External Independent Evaluation examination. *ot
