Donetsk, Oct 16 – DAN. The Memorial to Donbass Heroes commemorating Russian volunteers who fought for the region has been erected in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko attended the opening ceremony today.
"Dear residents of Rostov, I want to thank you personally and on behalf of the DPR residents, for supporting us in 2014 in fighting our common tragedy," he addressed the crowd in the Ostrovskiy recreation park.
Rostov administration head Vitaliy Kushnarev, deputy chairmen of the DPR Council of Ministers Alexander Timofeyev and Dmitry Trapeznikov, members of the inter-regional social organization Donbass Volunteers Union have also attended the event.
"We are opening the memorial to people who sacrificed their lives to prove the evil can be confronted and the Russian World can be preserved. This monument was opened courtesy of social movements, veteran organizations, charities," Rostov mayor said.
The Memorial to Donbass Heroes has been erected in Rostov's largest park. The 7-meters high monument is made of granite and is crowned by a replication of the DPR Order for Military Virtue.*ot
