Donetsk, Jul 13 - DAN. DPR theatres and concert organisers presented more than 900 stage productions and programmes to the public in the first half of this year, the Republic’s Culture Ministry press service said on Thursday.

“Theatre and concert organisations staged more than 900 performances and concert programmes in the first half of 2017, attended by more than 400,000 viewers; more than 30 gala concerts and shows were performed,” the press service said. “Over 50,000 people visited 40 exhibitions held by DPR museums.”

The press service highlighted the first nights of the legendary rock opera Yuno and Avos staged by the Donetsk State Academic Music and Drama Theatre and the Pinocchio fairy tale by Donbass Opera. The author of the music, Russian composer Alexey Rybnikov provided assistance in arranging both performances.

Separately, the Ministry noted “I love You, Life” festival competition devoted to the career of Russian People's Artist Iosif Kobzon, in which more than 200 singers had taken part. This competition was an important and joyful event for the young singers who received awards from a celebrity judge.

The key culture events in the Republic in the first half of 2017 included international Jazz Forum festival, Blagovest music festival, a folk song festival and the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Donetsk Music and Drama Theatre.*jk
