Donetsk, May 22 — DAN. Virtual dressing rooms, a clerical house and a life-size figure of Peter I will be on display at the Donetsk Republican Local History Museum (DRKM), the Donetsk People’s Republic Ministry of Culture said.

“The clerical house interior is nearly finalized, fashioned to the historical period and the work on Svyatogosk monastery diorama and Maytskaya Fortress model is ongoing, ” the Ministry’s press service told the Donetsk News Agency.

Cult objects and household items of Greek, German and Jewish settlers and the costume and weapons of a  Serb Hussar from a Serbian settlement of farmers and warriors reflect the emergence of the Donetsk region’s multi-ethnic community in the 18th century.

“The touch pads will show pictures of first Russian towns with a brief description, while LED monitors will display people’s costumes of various social strata, reconstructed with the help of modern technology. An ultra short throw projector will show a chieftain in a regional clerical house, ” a press service representative said.

Life-size figures of a Don Cossack, a noble boy, a Tartar and Peter I will be displayed as well. The Donetsk News Agency earlier reported that the museum was finishing the construction of a new hall dedicated to the settlement of the Donetsk region. It had to open last December when the museum marked its 98th anniversary.

DRKM is one of the largest museums in Donbass engaged in historical research. It stores dozens of thousands of exhibits, including mammoth and bison skeletons, a large collection of cuman sculptures and a unique collection of 16th to early 20th century books. The museum has rooms dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, Saur-Mogila Memorial and Sergey Prokofiev, and Museum of the Forest and Nemirovich-Danchenko Estate Museum.*jk
