Donetsk, Oct 31 —  DAN. The key elements of forged maps of the new regions are ready for installation at the Sun Clock “Crimean Time” object d’art in Simferopol, Donbass Blacksmiths Guild Secretary Yevgeny Lavrinenko told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“A six-member Donetsk delegation is already in Simferopol, ” Lavrinenko said.  “The experts are beginning to put the map together.”

The key elements were forged by blacksmiths from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic, he added.

Each region of the country will be represented by symbols. For the DPR, they are slagheaps with headwork, a fur tree suggesting timber riches, and the Mertsalov palm forged by blacksmith Alexey Mertsalov in 1895. In 1900, it won the Grand Prix at the International Industrial Exhibition in Paris.

The LPR is represented by the monument to “Lugansk Region worker” installed in Lugansk to honor the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution, a slagheap with headwork, several ears of wheat, an image of fur tree and the number 81, which is the Republic’s code. The Zaporozhye region is represented by an element of the historical coat-of-arms: a bow with three arrows pointing downward and a symbol of atom which reminds about the nuclear power plant in the region. The Kherson region is represented by a water melon with a cut-out piece and an anchor showing the region’s proximity to the sea.

DAN earlier reported that the work on the map for the Sun Clock “Crimean Time” was launched at the 25th International Blacksmithing Festival hosted by Donetsk in September.

The object d’art “Crimean Time” was unveiled in Simferopol in 2019 on Unity Day which is celebrated on November 4. The metal map of Russia measures 10×4 meters and masses some 15 tons.*jk
